Top four reads for the innovative marketing manager

Not all books are worthy of your time. Which is why I’ve done some of the hard yards and bring you four favourite reads that all marketers should invest their time in this year.

 

1. Youtility by Jay Baer

If you’re looking for a book that cuts through the clutter of marketing and provides strategic direction and actionable insights, this is it.

The definition of “Youtility” is simply marketing that is so useful, people will pay you for it. In the book, Baer draws upon his experience to deliver both a broad vision and a specific roadmap to creating content your customers will want to read.

2. Start With Why by Simon Sinek

Answer this: why do companies like Apple defy the impossible? Sinek’s book answers this question and suggests that the fundamental difference between the “Apples” of the world and everyone else, begins with “why”.

Most companies do their marketing backwards, progressing from their “what” to their “why”, with many not even conscious why they do what they do. Sinek suggests that your “why” should be the driving force of all business operations and must underpin your entire business strategy. Why not give it a try and start with why?

3. The 5 Second Rule by Mel Robbins

Want to enrich your life and destroy self-doubt in five seconds? Then this book is a must read! In her book, Robbins talks about the idea of becoming your greatest self and goes as far to suggest that the secret to having the confidence and courage to enrich your life and work is simply knowing how to push yourself.

After reading this book, you’ll discover it takes just five seconds to become confident, break the habit of procrastination and self-doubt, beat fear and uncertainty and stop worrying.
